Course objectives

The lecture gives information about the historical development of seals and coates of arms, their classification and typology. It offers information about fundamental attributes of seals and coaet of arms (royal, aristocratic, ecclesiastic and municipal). It explains essential concepts of genealogy. Students can get information about the most important scientists in the field of Heraldry and Sfragistic. Semminars are focus on practise – especially on precise description of seals and coates of arms (blazon) and on self-work with the genealogical springs (it means with church register above all). Next they should be able to use information about state and civil heraldry, understand to basic genealogical ideas and work with theoretical knowledge in practices.
