Course objectives
Basic course of marine ecology and oceanobiology. Function, biodiversity and ecology.
Learning outcomes
Student will get the knowledge on - basic characteristics and the main processes running in the marine environment; adaptations of marine organisms; biodiversity, typical species and communities, commercially important species; contemporary threats and protection of marine ecosystems
Syllabus
  • Principles of oceanography and marine biology; marine organisms: function and environment; organisms of the open sea; processes in the open sea; organisms of the seabed; coastal benthic environments; processes on the seabed from the shelf to the deep sea; human impact on the sea; fauna of the Mediterranean Sea
