Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The goal of this subject is that the students will learn how to create structured documents and how to publish them on the Internet.
At the end of the course students should have knowledge about WWW - main tool for electronic publishing of documents - and about technologies used for creation of these documents, about a HTML/XHTML language and a technology CSS (with accent to creation of valid documents).
The graduates will also have an overview about computer graphics, scripting technologies, rules of web design and modern trends and about accessibility and usability of documents.
Syllabus
  • 1. Introduction - principles of working of web servers and browsers 2. HTML - basic structure of web page 3. HTML - tools for web design, coding, tables, publishing of web pages, upload via FTP server 4. HTML - forms 5. CSS – basic usage 6. CSS – application of extended selectors, compatibility of browsers 7. CSS vs. HTML development, pros and cons 8. JavaScript - basics 9. Graphics data and multimedia - formats (GIF, PNG, JPEG), relevancy of usage 10. Usability – general principles, home page, navigation 11. Accessibility - design of pages respecting needs of handicapped users 12. Anonymity of Internet users, security, abuse of personal data, spam, legal and ethical aspect of publishing - citation, references, responsibility for published data
