Syllabus
  • This course makes part of the optional subjects of the didactic section (subsection of Topical Chapters in Didactics of Foreign Languages); it is offered especially to students whose dissertation is related to this topic. The course objective is to provide a deeper insight into the theory (and practice) of evaluation of processes and results of pupils´ learning in foreign language classes with the emphasis on testing. The theoretical course content presents a compex outline of the problematic nature of evaluation and its forms (including self-assessment), theory of testing, in particular characteristics of a good didactic test, typology of tests, test making - its stages and concrete techniques. This theoretical basis will be applied in analyses of authoritative standardised foreign language tests (e.g. language state exam, graduation exam in foreign languages, Cambridge Examinations, City & Guilds Pitman Examinations, Zertifikat Deutsch als Fremdsprache, Österreichisches Sprachdiplom aj.).
