The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
The course will focus on the Czech sculpture of the 20th century in the european conext and on the theory of modern sculpture. Students will be able to interpret forms and meaning of sculptures, objects and instalations.
Syllabus
  • 1. The relation between sculpture and painting in modern art.; 2. Materiality, weight, volume and spature in cubism: Gutfreund.; 6. The principle of reduction, archetypal form. Brancusi and Czech sculpture; 7. Sculpture and object. Ready made a surrealist object; 8. Sculpture and mouvement. Kinetism and Pešánek.; 9. New Czech sculpture after 1958.; 9. Constructivism and minimalism. 10. The theme: cube.; 11. Sculpture, object, installation.; 12.Modern sculpture monument and public space.
