Course objectives
The aim of this seminar series is to improve the reading skills and analyze dramatic texts (thematic and structural analysis of drama, generic classification etd.) and to interpret them. The assessment of the course will be based on seminar presentations.

  • 1. Epic - lyrical - dramatic principle. 2. Problems of dramatization, considered as a specific type of metatext as well as one of the subtypes of the dramatic genre. 3. Historical continuitys of dramatization. 4. Pavel Kohout, Milan Uhde, Milan Kundera, Ludvík Kundera, František Pavlíček.

Teaching methods
Every lecture requires homework preparation in reading the assigned study literature. After teacher's presentation of the general and particular features of the subject, students are guided to interpretation of the chosen extracts, and class discussions follow.
Assessment methods
Final group project and written work.
