Cíle předmětu
The aim of this course is to provide students with knowledge on the links between politics and religion, and the socio-political dimension of religion. During the course, particular cases will be studied and discussed – both with regard to certain political solutions (different models of church-state relations in Europe, the EU’s policies concerning religious issues) and with regard to particular religious perspectives (with main focus on Islam and Christianity; other selected denominations and worldviews will also be discussed). Social processes of secularisation and religious diversification will form the point of reference for the discussion on the (Christian, secular or multicultural?) shape of Europe.
