Course objectives
At the end of the course, students should be able to create and read drawings which conforms to the current ISO standards for mechanical systems. Focus is primarily given to requirements on documentation resulting from production needs but the course is also an introduction to 2D documentation using CAD systems and their practical use.
Syllabus
  • Introduction to technical drawing – standards in technical drawing, basic distribution and content of technical documentation.
  • Introduction to CAD systems for 2D/3D documentation, practical example of part drawing.
  • Rules of imaging in views and sections, dimensioning, the relationship between documentation and production.
  • Length dimension tolerances – standard hole/shaft system, general tolerances and relation to manufacturing tolerances, marking, theoretically precise dimensions, use in practice, cover drawing.
  • Surface roughness and geometric tolerances - mark roughness, arithmetical average deviation Ra, the significance of geometric tolerances, types of geometric tolerance.
  • Geometric tolerances – continuation, relationship of surface roughness and geometrical tolerances, base.
  • Shaft drawing
  • Hole spacing dimensioning - dimensions using length dimension tolerances, dimensioning using axial positions with geometric tolerances, a practical demonstration wiht the drawing of part.
  • Assembly drawings - assembly drawing requirements, rules of imaging and dimensioning.
  • Assembly drawings - a list of items, an example.
  • Example of the assembly drawing.
  • Weldment drawings - imaging of welds, terms of weldment drawings.
Teaching methods
Exercises with PC support. Exercises are based on drawings of real mechanical components.
Assessment methods
Successful completion of the course – delivery of drawings of mechanical components assigned during the semester.
Language of instruction
Czech
