The basic conceptions of the kinematical and dynamical theo-
ries of diffraction. Kinematical and dynamical diffraction
on a system of planes (Darwin's theory). Ewald s model of
the crystal as a system of elm coupled dipoles and its modi-
fication for the diffraction of neutrons. The reflection and
transmission of neutrons on a crystal slab for an arbitrary
angle of incidence. Coplanar and noncoplanar reflections and
transmissions. The comparison with the Laue theory.
