Course objectives
The course represents an introduction to problem of multimedia in a broader context of theoretical discourse, art manifestos and their concrete application. Although multimedia seem to be rooted in the realm of digital media in 1980's, in a broader "archaeological" sense we can track the basic principles back to artistic and theoretical approaches of 19th century.
Syllabus
  • Interaction between the spheres of perception - sound and picture - From pictorial function of music to sounding picture. Synaesthesia - "Augenmusik" - Forms of the music visualisation. Der Blaue Reiter. Bauhaus. Sound, picture, movement - searching analogies between arts. Space as a medium. Music for film - on the screen and beyond - Radio utopias and heterotopias (M. Foucault) - Wired Radio - historical repetition of the concept? The "Lebenswelt" as a videoclip.
