Course objectives
After completing this course the student will be able to:
understand authentic texts/lectures on earth science
identify the main ideas
formulate the main ideas
summarize a scientific/earth science text
interpret the information from the text/lecture
use terminology of the course topics
define the terms of the course topics
classify features
describe tables and graphs
explain causes and effects
compare and contrast using the proper linking vocabulary
present a scientific topic using advanced presentation techniques
use arguments (support/opose)
discuss one´s plans for future studies and trips
apply acquired skills in academic English to new topics

  • Syllabus of the course: geological topics (see the list), pretesting updated tests (last or last but one week of the course).It is not necessary to pass the test but writing the test is a necessary condition for completing the course.
