Course objectives
Contents of the course consist of two sections; the first is a separate and dedicated to logistics in connection with commercial and business activities. It proceedes from the definition of the subject and methods to the implementation of the basic concepts in the market economy. Another section, smaller in scope and significance, includes the interpretation of the fundamental theoretical and practical issues of the transporation.

At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- understand what is the logistics and supply chain management, and understand their importance in the contemporary world of business;
- explain "trade-off" cost - the occasional antagonistic objectives pursued by logistics and other business functions;
- know why it is necessary to manage and plan the logistics activities (in a holistic way) within the enterprise and between enterprises themselves;
- know the role and the logistic problems for the purchase, storage, production and distribution;
- know the concepts, which are used to solve these problems
- a general overview of the issues of transportation

Assessment methods
The course has a form of a lecture. Main emphasis is laid on a self-study. The course is concluded by the oral exam. Student can attend the exam provided that she/he hands in and presents seminar work in a given quality to the obligatory date. Detailed information concerning the seminar work and the on-line test is available at interactive syllabi of the course in the IS MU.
If student commits a prohibited act, such as usage of various forbidden tools, cribbing, taking out any part of the exam or any other cheating, teacher is allowed to interrupt an exam and to grade a student with F, FF or FFF according to the seriousness of the offence.
