Course objectives
The core of the course consists of reading, translating and interpreting selected poems of Horace. At the end of the course the students will be able to translate and interpret adequately the poems of Horace in the context of the poetry of the Augustan Period. They will also be able to recognize and analyse all typical Horatian meters.

Teaching methods
Seminars, 1½ hours per week, homeworks.
Assessment methods
The course has a form of a seminar. Active participation is expected from all students. Credit is awarded in a manner of a colloquium - reading, translating and interpreting a selected poem.
