Course objectives

The course develops knowledge of the subject of Logistics and transport. Emphasis is placed particularly on understanding the links between logistics activities and the overall management of the company and logistics in supply chains.

At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- propose indicators following logistical performance in the firm and the business level,
- proficient to interprete the links between enterprise information system and logistics performance,
- proficient to judge the suitability of the integration of logistics in the organizational structure of the company
- proficient to describe modern technical means and methods of logistics,
- were able to explain challenges for the logistics - such as e-business, or recoveries, and environmental requirements.

Teaching methods
The course has a form of seminars, where the concepts of the logistics are explained in a discussion with students. The application of instruments will be demonstrated on examples. Some concepts will be presented with help of multimedia. Main emphasis is laid on a self-study.
Assessment methods
The course is concluded by written and oral exam. Student can attend the exam provided that she/he hands in and presents seminar work in a given quality to the obligatory date. Detailed information concerning the seminar work and the on-line test is available at interactive syllabi of the course in the IS MU.
Any copying, recording or leaking tests, use of unauthorized tools, aids and communication devices, or other disruptions of objectivity of exams (credit tests) will be considered non-compliance with the conditions for course completion as well as a severe violation of the study rules. Consequently, the teacher will finish the exam (credit test) by awarding grade "F" in the Information System, and the Dean will initiate disciplinary proceedings that may result in study termination.
