Course objectives
The course deals with development of innovations and innovative enterprise. Nowadays the main competitive advatages are launching new products and increasing quality and user value of older products, services and processess. The students get new information about innovations, reginal innovation systems, innovation support in the Czech Republic as well as abroad and methodology of innovation surveys. The course deals also with innovation centres, business incubators and clusters.

  • Introduction, definition of basic terms
  • Theoretical approaches to definition and importance of innovations
  • European innovation policy
  • National innovation system in the Czech Republic, strategic documents for development of innovations
  • Regional innovations systems, support of innovation in regions
  • Innovation statistics, evaluation of innovative environment, indicators for evaluation of R&D
  • Innovation centres, business incubators, science parks
  • Clusters
  • Protecting of intellectual property
  • Financing of innovative firms
  • Support of research and development
Literature
Teaching methods
Lessons take form of lectures and seminars. Reading of the obligatory literature is expected.
Assessment methods
The written exam consists of two parts: open questions and a multiple choice test. 30 points can be usually obtained in total; to pass the exam the student needs 21 points (70 %). Semester requirements: seminar project (POT).
