In a globalized world one of the key competencies will be intercultural sensitivity. The art of negotiation and problem solving with foreign partners could substantially influence business accomplishments stemming from international collaboration. Preparedness to negotiate with foreign partners consists not only in possessing the necessary knowledge regarding distinct cultures but also in absorbing basic attitudes and practical skills that will facilitate negotiation and minimize misunderstnading resulting from different national perspectives.
The programme takes place abroad. Students take part in an international workshop which will be held in Caen (France) from April 16th till April 27th 2012 within Erasmus Intensive Project. The programme is coordinated by Ecole de Management de Normandie.

Participation in the programme requires excellent language skills (English) and a successful pass through a selection process.

Costs:
The EM Normandie (with financical grants of the European Union) will: • pay directly for the housing of the participating students while staying in Normandie.
• reimburse 75 % of transport cost between Vienna and Caen (students must hand in their train/plane ticket).

Co o loňském workshopu říkají jeho mezinárodní účastníci? (za ESF MU se účastnilo 5 studentů a studentek):

I.F. (CZ), “the IP course helped me to understand that there are many skills that I have that are my strengths and could be a big advantage in negotiations…the feedback I have received from teachers and other students was very useful and I believe that knowing how other people perceive me will help me improve my negotiation and communication skills in the future.

D. K. (AUS), “Reconsidering the very short time in Caen with all the negotiations, group work and also al the “non-official” meetings… brought me to a final conclusion: intercultural negotiations, intercultural personal relationships, and intercultural friendships are only successful in that extent as you personally bring in yourself actively.”

M. C. (UK- Hertfordshire), “I am really happy because this program helped me to understand that sometimes we have to stop and think about what we do and how we do it and how we can improve ourselves.”

J. B. (UK- Southampton), “The negotiation process gave me an excellent impression of how my behavior comes across and how my skills can be assessed, as feedback was provided. I highly appreciate this excellent opportunity and chance to test and develop my competences within these cross cultural surroundings.”

I.V. (NL), “After finishing the IP program and writing this journal I notice that I learned a lot about myself and my culture…This course made me realize what I want to reach in my life and how I see myself and others. I left with a really good feeling.”

A. Z. (GER), “In these two weeks of the IP at EM Normandie I was able to learn a lot about myself and how others perceive me. I have to say that the IP was interesting and I learned a lot about how to improve myself. One reason why I participated in the program was that I’m going to study [abroad] next semester…and I think that it was perfect for that.”

J. C. (SP), “these have been two great weeks for in which I discovered a little bit more of myself and a great topic: NEGOTIATION. I enjoy the way you manage the lessons, all of us have learnt about negotiation and communication through lively and dynamic cases. I am used to work and learn with cases but ever so motivated, dynamic and helpful as the ones we have been performing in these two weeks. I can say that EM Normandie is now a little part of my life.”
