Course objectives
The subject Debt Collection brings as a main goal the introduction to the topic of asserting and collecting of private claims. The main purpose of the subject is to introduce and to compare the main ways of claim asserting where the main attention will be paid to the civil proceedings, but also alternative ways of claim asserting. The important part of the course will be sacrificed to the insolvency proceeding as a collective way of claim asserting. The lectures would like to place the question of debt collection from the legal point of view, but also economic, accounting and tax point of view, and they also plan to present the main ways of business dispute resolutions. The course will be conducted by the three block lectures where the each lecture will be accompanied by the separate module of the following special practical lecture taught by the experienced external lector. ;
- Module „Mediation“;
- Module „Arbitration proceedings“;
- Module „Insolvency proceedings“;
Each module will be focused on the enlarging of basic skills in relevant area and the enrichment based on the practical examples, professional experience and gaining new practical skills. The graduate is supposed to understand the economic and financial connections of debt collection thought the consensus of the parties after the mediation, by the individual way of civil proceedings and also though the collective satisfaction and the process of the insolvency proceedings.

  • The course will be conducted by the three block lecture. The each lecture will be accompanied by the separate module of the following special practical lecture where the graduate will obtain the certification. 1. Lecture The introduction into the business obligations, the basics of contracting, the security in obligation relations Alternative ways of dispute resolution  The introduction into the course, the main requirements for course graduation  General introduction to the obligations, debtor and creditors,  Claim security in business relations  Alternative ways of the asserting claim and debt collection The attached practical module „Mediation“ 2. Teaching methods
The course takes the form of both lectures and workshops and related discussions, self study.
Assessment methods
The course consists of three lectures that are not obligatory. The student is supposed to choose and to pass at least one of the three offered workshops. The course finishes with a oral colloquium. The most important aspect for the evaluation will be the ability to use the gained knowledge in the practice during the case study. The student should prove at least basic knowledge of economic and legal aspects of contractual obligations.
