Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to:
1. Understand and explain the different systems of family property law that exist in Europe.
2. Have knowledge of the main features of the leading systems of inheritance law in Europe.
3. Understand and make proper use of the CEFL Principles of European Family Law Regarding Property Relations Between Spouses.
4. Make an accurate comparison between one’s own national system of family property law and the CEFL-principles.
5. Make an accurate comparison between certain aspects of one’s own national system of inheritance law and of the main European inheritance law systems.

  • The reading material will include several articles on family property law, the CEFL Principles of European Family Law Regarding Property Relations Between Spouses, and inheritance law in Europe.

The course will be taught with lectures and class discussions.

An essay question and answer format will be used for the assessment.
