Presupposed are German knowledge on the level C1 of the European reference framework: "Can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts, and recognise implicit meaning. Can express him/herself fluently and spontaneously without much obvious searching for expressions. Can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes. Can produce clear, well-structured, detailed text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of organisational patterns, connectors and cohesive devices."

At the end of the seminar the students should be able to express themselves in a better german. The seminar is a mixture of (technical) language teaching and working with regional themes. Methodologically, the seminar is based on the idea of cross-cultural studies and the ABCD-Theses. The aim of the seminar is to look critically and comprehensively at individual cultural phenomena, and to integrate language work.
The topics are presented as examples or comparative for Austria, Germany and Switzerland processed.
By the use of authentic sources, different views are shown and simultaneously the students improve their language proficiency.
Syllabus
Instruction contents are opened to a large extent on the inductive way, over process and problem oriented entrance. With the help of the contrastive view for cultural differences students should be sensitised for intercultural understanding.
