Course objectives
At the end of the course students will have gained insight into the scope of tendencies in contemporary German, they learn about both language universals and the particular trends in contemporary German and its particular structures. The lecture covers the variety of discourses on this topic with special accent on signals showing overlapping structures of written and spoken language, trends in morphological and syntactic structures (flexion, temporality, word formation, elliptical structures etc.) The seminar student presentations and discussions of the theme this will lead to the acquisition of a more advanced competence in the area of text analysis and linguistic characterology of German.
