Prerequisites
Good knowledge of German to be able to interpret in both directions (German-Czech, Czech-German). For this reason this course is not suitable for Bachelor studies students.

Course objectives
Various kinds of interpreting will be discussed (sight translation, consecutive and simultaneous interpreting), as well as problems and inhibitions in the process of SI.

  • 1. Working with text to prepare for SI: syntactic and semantic simplification, gisting 2. Note-taking 3. Exercises to practise concentration, correct breathing and voice techniques 4.
