Course objectives
Emphasis will be placed on development of speech and writing skills. The main goal will be to strengthen the understanding of the spoken language and the developing of active speech skills (summarisation and interpretation of the information from spoken or written sources). Printed and audio visual materials will be used (mostly the authentic texts from Arab media). Specialized terminology III. Syrian Colloquial Arabic II.

Teaching methods
Reading and listening comprehension (filling gap, short answer questions, multiple choice), translation, topical conversation, interpretation of spoken or written sources . E-learning concerning Arab media.
Assessment methods
Two essays and two presentations during the Course. Written test and oral examination at the end of the term: reading comprehension (short answer questions), listening comprehension (short answer questions), translation, conversation. Class attendance is not required during the term but the students are strongly recommended to do so. Passmark – 60%.
