Course objectives
The work in seminars focuses on practicing of fundamental and more advanced translating procedures on concrete texts of a scientific style, on application of various types of equivalence. Translating procedures are adopted in terms of thematic areas from economic and administrative sphere, banking institutions and some current questions from the area of tax policy.
Syllabus
  • week 1-2: translation of scientific texts from field of Machine-building
  • week 3-4: translation of scientific texts from field of Textile industry
  • week 5-6: translation of scientific texts from field of Transport
  • week 7-8: translation of scientific texts from field of Company-specific Style and Advertisement
  • week 9-10: translation of scientific texts from field of Business Correspondence
  • week 11-12: translation of scientific texts according to focus of a diploma thesis (student’s own choice of a topic)
