Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to use the information from the developmental psychology(important representatives, history, basics of developmantal research and current trends)   in relation to other general and applied psychological areas (especially counseling psychology, methodology, psychopathology and social psychology) . At the end of this course the student will be able to orientate in   the psychology of human development, namely from the prenatal stage to adolescence. For continuation see Developmental psychology II.
Syllabus
  • Students will get acquainted with basic terms and themes in developmental psychology. They will gain basic knowledge of the overall characteristics of each stage of human life from the prenatal stage to adolescence. Introduction to Developmental Psychology. Classical and modern theories of life-span human development. Developmental Science. Basic designs of developmental research. Current trends in developmental psychology. Developmental scales. Schools of developmental psychology. Prenatal period. Neonatal period. Infancy. Toddlerhood. Preschool period. School age. Adolescence.
