Course objectives
Course is a follow-up of "Human physiology" and focuses on CNS structure and functioning. At the end of the course students should be able to describe particular functional units in CNS, cognitive functions, neuroregulation of bodily functions and integration of involved neural, hormonal and immune system.
Syllabus
  • 1) Brain and behavior, environment of the neuron. Synapse.
  • 2) Information processing in the nervous system.
  • 3) Physiology of sensory organs. Somatosensory system.
  • 4) Motor system. Autonomic system.
  • 5) Learning and memory. Language. Functional asymmetry of the hemispheres
  • 6) Arousal mechanisms, sleep. Modulatory systems of the brain. Limbic forebrain and motivation.
  • 7) Implicit and explicit emotion processes.
