Course objectives
Lectures are devoted to introduction of practical information from production and development of the largest Czech portal Seznam.cz.

  • Marek Vacek: Agile development.
  • Roman Dušek: A/B testing in Seznam Search.
  • Jan Lukavský: How to crawl 1.5 billion documents for Searching.
  • Roman Rožník: Fulltext, what was not said.
  • Tomáš Komenda: Ad-system Sklik and big-data real-time processing (Hadoop, HBase, Cassandra DB, MongoDB).

Teaching methods
Course is taught by externists from the company Seznam.cz. It is in a form of the standard lecture. There are neither drills nor homeworks.
Assessment methods
The credit (Z) is awarded to those who attend at least ten of the thirteen lectures. No ECTS credits for the course as such shall be awarded.
