Course objectives
The main content of the course Fundamentals of Russian 2 is the consolidation of skills and knowledge of phonetics and grammar, reading comprehension skills, listening to the original Russian text, oral and written expression. Emphasis is also placed on developing and improving vocabulary through translation exercises, practice of writing to help drill and complete exercises. A successful learner from this course will be able to: listen and understand Russian texts, write texts, read texts and talk on these topics - see Course Contents.
Syllabus
  • Lesson 15. - 21. of the Russian exercise book is of teach-yourself type. Attention is paid to texts - reading questions and answers, translation, repetition of phrases and sentences. The new vocabulary is fixed in the connections or sentences, as in communicative exercises and in writing. Topics: 1)Hotel. Selection and reservation. 2) Transport in the city. Vehicles. 3) Housing. Where do you live? City. Village. 4) Food. My favorite food. National cuisine. 5) Shopping. Where do like to buy? 6) Health. How do you feel? Healthy lifestyle.

Teaching methods
Students work up homework and within an individual work they elaborate lexical excercises and essays during the study. Students work individually and they also cooperate in group projects. They continuously read Russian texts. Theoretical training. Practical language training. Discussion, homeworks, reading, hearing.
Assessment methods
Seminar on the need to regularly active participation. Attendance 80% (two absences allowed). Continuous home preparation.Conclusion - exam. The exam consists of   written and oral. The written test is aimed at the memorized grammar and vocabulary (translation and optional exercises). After passing the written test, students will be tested orally on memorized conversational topics (the topics covered during the year), reading books in Russian (80-100 pages) and listening (audio, video, DVD - min. 1 movie). Students submit a glossary of new words from reading (min. 60 words). The assessment is not correct grammar and vocabulary used, but also the correct pronunciation and intonation structure.
