Course objectives
Improvement of Russian pronunciation by means of various oral exercises, audio recordings. Transcription.
Syllabus
  • 1. The Russian alphabet, Russian phonetic system. Vowels and consonants. Orthographic letters, letters denoting vowels and consonants.
  • 2. Phonetic transcription, its rules.
  • 3. Russian accent. Rhythm.
  • 4. Reduction. Pronunciation of unstressed vowels.
  • 5. Transcription е, ё, ю, я at the beginning of a word, after vowels and after ь.
  • 6. Assimilation. Transcription and pronunciation voiced and unvoiced consonants.
  • 7. Pair of hard and soft consonants, their pronunciation and transcription.
  • 8. Transcription and pronunciation of vowel + е, ё, и, ю, я.
  • 9. Transcription and pronunciation of unpaired hard consonants [ж], [ш], [ц].
  • 10. Transcription and pronunciation of unpaired soft consonants [ч'] [j] [ш':].
  • 11. Reading polysyllabic words, phrases and short sentences.
  • 12. Training beat, melody.
