Course objectives
The objective of this subject are basic aspect of the word, its function in the ambit of the language system, its status and functions in the particular language level.
Syllabus
  • From the theoretic perspective the word is focused as a basic unit of the language, that has its own specific historical evolution. The actual vocabulary of the Russian language is investigating from different points of view: 1. The word as a basic unit of the language.
  • 2. Lexicography.
  • 3. Original and polisemic words, words of foreign origin.
  • 4. Neologism.
  • 5. Archaism and historism.
  • 6. Vocabulary changes in the Soviet period.
  • 7. Vocabulary changes in the 90 of the last century.

Teaching methods
Lecture. E-learning. The course ends with a written work that examines the theoretical knowledge of the students. Written work is in Russian. After successfully writing the essay is followed by an oral examination.
Assessment methods
Exam - first written part(in Russian Lanruage). 75% of correct answers is needed to pass. Second oral part. Checked both content and language correctness.
