- Course objectives
- The course aims to deepen students' knowledge of word-formation and morphological system of Russian language. At the end of this course the student will be able to describe morphological and morphemic plane of Russian language; to identify and to characterize parts of speech; to explain the differences in word formation and morphological categories of specific parts of speech.
An important component of the course is to prepare students for the exam in Russian morphology. - Syllabus
- 1. The system of parts of speech in the Russian language.
- 2. Derivation and inflection in the different parts of speech: a) noun.
- 3. Word formation and inflection in the different parts of speech: b) adjective.
- 4. Word formation and inflection in the different parts of speech: c) the verb.
- 5. Word formation in the different parts of speech: d) adverb.
- 6. Word formation and inflection in the different parts of speech: e) numeral.
- 7. The etymology and word formation.
- 8. Morpheme as object of morphemics.
- 9. Morphemic models Russian language.
- 10. Derivation system of the Russian language. The methods of word formation.
- 11. Calque.
- 12. Formation of the theory of morphemics and word formation in Russian linguistics of the 16 -18 centuries.
