CJV_AJA2k Entrance Test A2
The English course for intermediate students who can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc., who can produce simple connected text on topics which are familiar or of personal interest, and can read texts and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.

Course objectives
In the compulsorily-optional English for Social Educators Course the students will consolidate their language skills from secondary school (Pass in 'maturita' in English is required), and will learn some selected academic skills (oral presentation, supporting argument, discussion, summary, retrieval of key information etc.) in English. Successful students will be credited for active participation in the lessons, for oral and written presentations, incl. summary presentation at the end of the semester. Final test at the end of the course (Pass limit 65%)

Analýza odborného anglického textu, Brno 2006) (Making a statement, arguing the point, a discussion based on the experience) Consultation 3 Growing up, growing old. Adolescence. Adulthood. Ageing. Texts 4, 5. (Opinion exchange. Critical thinking. Essay writing) Consultation 4 21st century problems - environment, drug abuse, wars, terrorism, etc. Focus on social problems. Texts 6, 7 (Survey. Presentation. Problem solving.) Consultation 5 Special task: My Work and Study. Current employment, basic information about Masaryk University and Faculty of Education Test Credit requirements: Active participation in the lessons. Presentations. The end-of-the-term test based on a special task. The student who has not completed continuous assessment during the particular semester cannot be credited. (Student, který nemá splněné průběžné úkoly z jednotlivých témat v rámci daného semestru, nemůže získat kredity, ani zápočet)

General note: Předmět je v tomto podzimním semestru 2008 určen pro 3. ročník. Studenti nižších ročníků budou mít tento předmět v jarním semestru 2009. Vstupní znalost jazyka na úrovni minimálně A2 se prověřuje testem CJV_AJA2k na úvodní konzultaci 19.9.08.
