Course objectives
Upon finishing the course, students gain skills in the activation and support of pupils from socially disadvantaged background. They acquire methodological skills in tutoring, get acquainted with the pupil's background, their specific needs and gradually are able to generate appropriate study habits in the pupil, with whom they work during the semester. A framework of applicable methodology of active tutoring will be drawn. Students will be able to create their own materials which they will be able to apply in the practice of teaching.
Syllabus
  • Specifics of teaching individuals. Basics of communication between the tutor and the pupil. Methodology of tutoring. Individual teaching practice in the pupil's family, length 20 hours. Keeping reflective journal. Communication with the pupil's regular teacher. Evaluation of active tutoring.

Teaching methods
Individual teaching practice, active tutoring in families, training of active tutoring, evaluation, creating methodology.
Assessment methods
Students are required to keep detailed record of their tutoring in their reflective journal, develop their own teaching methodology, evaluation will be carried out by means of tutors' focus group.
