Course objectives
The aim of the three-part series of courses Language Seminar is to strengthen and deepen the knowledge of Swedish grammar gained in previous years of study. Attention will be given to the training of perceptive (reading and listening) and productive language skills (writing and speaking). When working with authentic texts and audio recordings the individual needs of the students will be taken into account. Students will also learn the basics of the four disciplines of linguistics: syntax, morphology, lexicology and semantics, with emphasis on practical application of acquired knowledge. The aim of the first part of the course is to provide a comprehensive and thorough knowledge of the Swedish language - spoken and written form, its structure and use. The course is an introduction to the theory and methods of linguistics. Text analysis, oral and written presentation and understanding of social importance as insight into the social meanings of language.
