Course objectives
Basic geographic, political, social and economic characteristics of the Republic of Slovenia. The course provides an introduction to Slovenian life and institutions as well as to the political development and cultural specifics of the country. Students will be able to explain, analyze and compare situation and specifics of the Republic of Slovenia.

  • 2. Human geography of Slovenia & Politics of Slovenia & Foreign relations of Slovenia
  • 3. The Alpine region & The Subalpine region
  • 4. The Dinaric-Karst region & The Mediterranean region
  • 5. The Pannonian region & The autochtonous Slovene minorities in Italy, Austria and Hungary
  • 6. Educatinal system, science and reasearch in Slovenia & Present-day culture of Slovenia: cinema, music, fine arts, architecture

Lectures, class discussion and presentations.
Assessment methods
Written assessment: test (the minimum passing score is 65 %). Compulsory presentation. To receive credits students will be required to have no more than two absences.
