Course objectives (in Czech)
This course examines the intersection of boxing and urban culture in the US. We shall view boxing as a kind of window through which to explore larger issues of ethnoracial identity, inequality, and culture in the American urban milieu. Though our focus will be on boxing in the US, at every stage of the course we shall seek to foster comparative discussions of boxing and urban life in European and, more specifically, Czech contexts.
