Course objectives
The aim of the subject is to give an idea of America as a functioning system of regional units and different dimensions of a hierarchical classification based on natural and corresponding economic and social parameters. At the end of this course students will be able understand regional specifics of this continent, to compose information, factual and localized information into their context. Students also can work with a map, use data from national statistical sources and transform the curriculum into their own teaching.
Syllabus
  • 1. Identifying and defining of the region - work with a map 2. Physical-geographical characteristics (geology, climate, hydrology, biogegraphy) - work with a map, data analysis 3. Social-geogrphical characteristics (demography, economy, intergation) - role plays 4. Regionalisation of the areas and complex characteristics of subregions and countries (Canada; USA; Mexico; Carribean area; Brasilia; Venezuela; Columbia; Argentina, etc). - paper processing, group work

Assessment methods
The lessons are realized in seminar groups. This seminary continues the lectures of the course RG of America. Students discuss among each other and elaborate protocols where they are dealing with selected problematic issues concerning America. The emphasis rests upon didactic transformation of knowledge. To complete this course successfully, it is necessary to elaborate all protocols and prove the ability to localize geographical objects in maps.
