The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives
After completing the course student: - knows the systematics of combatives and basic terminology - is familiar with one combative system - knows different combative systems and schools - knows different combative techniques and its use - is able to practically demonstrate basic combative techniques - is able to explain meaning and use of combatives in nowadays world
Syllabus
  • Content of the subject is different for every semester. For semester Autumn 2015 this content is valid: 1. Taxonomy and terminology of combatives 2. Combative systems (martial arts, combative sports, self-defence etc.): a) karate b) brazilian jiu-jitsu 3. Basic combative techniques of chosen system 4. Aplication of basic combative techniques 5. Conditioning: a) general physical prepartion b) combat conditioning
Teaching methods
Explanation, demonstration, exercises, drills.
Assessment methods
Practical test: demonstration of basic combative techniques Verbal test: answering questions on issues according to subject curriculum
