Course objectives
At the end of the course the student will be able to:
interpret the basic concepts from the area of ​​health
search for information on health
create a recherche in the health care area
be familiar with medical classification systems and standards
understand aspects of quality information about health  
Syllabus
  • Basic terms and their definitions: medical fields, medical librarian, health and disease,   health care, medical informatics
  • Health and nutrition literacy: definitions, practical meaning in the health care system  
  • Evidence-based medicine: predictive value of documents, postmodernism and deconstruction, Evidence Based Practice
  • Acquisition of data: principles of scholarship, preclinical and clinical research, the types of clinical studies
  • Laboratory data: data obtained by measurement, truthfulness, accuracy, precision, validation of results, statistical significance and pitfalls of interpretation, internal and external control quality
  • Preservation and distribution of data: medical records, medical information systems
  • Information for professionals: primary and secondary information sources, electronic resources, e-books, databases, impact factor, citation index, Hirsch index
  • Classification systems: Classification of Diseases, classification of drugs, classification of medical literature
  • Other information in health care: information for patients about medicines, information on food supplements, nutrition information  , advertising and PR in health, international community of patients and sharing knowledge
  • Working with information in health care: Preparation of research, strategy work   of information in health care, creation of research, search, operators, thesaurus
  • Relevance of information: interpretation of information, validity information (relevance and credibility), assessment validity information
