Abstract

V uplynulých patnácti letech vzrůstal zájem teoretiků nových médií o to, jakým způsobem materialita softwaru ovlivňuje a formuje naši společnost a spoluutváří náš svět. Můžeme proto hovořit o ´obratu k softwaru´ v diskurzu studií nových médií. Výrazem této tendence je vznik softwarových studií, která můžeme popsat jako volný soubor výzkumných postupů transformující studia novým médií přibližně od začátku 21. století. Předkládaná publikace popisuje ustavení softwarových studií jako vyústění určitých myšlenkových tendencí v rámci disciplíny studia nových médií (Kittler, Flusser, Manovich, Cramer, Fuller), vymezuje orientační body jejich institucionalizace a představuje základní metodologické přístupy, které jsou definovány ve vztahu k dalším novým subdisciplínám oboru, kritickým studiím kódu (Critical code studies), studiím platforem (Platform studies) a zlým mediálním studiím (Evil media studies).

Abstract (in English)

In the last fifteen years, there can be detected an increasing interest of new media studies scholars in how software forms our society and in the way it shapes our world. We can therefore speak of 'turn to software' in new media studies discourse. A symptom of this trend is a Software studies, the sub-discipline of New media studies, emergence. Software studies can be described as a loose set of research practices that has been transforming new media studies since the beginning of the 21st century. This publication introduces Software studies launch as an outcome of certain conceptual tendencies within the new media studies (Kittler, Flusser, Manovich, Cramer, Fuller), it defines the landmarks of its institutionalization, as well as fundamental methodological approaches that are defined in close relation to other new sub-disciplines of the field, Critical code studies, Platform studies, and Evil media studies.
