The analysis of basic ideas of european integration is the crucial part of my thesis. I describe historical changes in the understanding of terms progress, common good, prosperity, crisis, nations, european integration, and european values. I try to explore their contemporary meanings in academic literature as well as in official documents of european institutions. My analysis of ideas facilitates me to make my own proposal of their understanding which may also reflect their rarely used meanings. I especially accent differences in particular interpretations based on different fields of social interaction among which I count religion, politics, science, art, economy and family. One of my conclusions states that unlimited usage of particular interpretative frameworks can intensify the misunderstanding of terms in european integration.
