Diploma thesis „Themes for School Work with Regional Folk
Dances and Games (Vracov)“ deals with certain aspects of
didactic work with folk dance at primary school which should
encourage pupils to be interested in folk culture of their
native community or region, or to take part in a folklore
ensemble. Theoretical part of the paper summarizes basic facts
about folk dance as an aspect of folk culture and society,
concentrating on folk culture of south-Moravian town Vracov.
Practical part of the paper then suggests how to create and
present short music-and-dance performance in school, with
respect to various subjects and curricular requirements. To
present examples of school music-and-dance performances, author
of the diploma thesis uses her experience of a member of a
folklore ensemble, accordingly with methodical guides on
description and training folk dances and distinguished sources
of folk songs.
