The medieval colonization of Trutnov by lords of Švábenic My thesis deals with colonization of the Trutnov region by the lords of Švábenic in the 13th century and with the origin of feudal system in this territory the house of Švábenic. After a brief introduction in contemporary literature it introduces my sources of information. There are written information sources charters and references in chronicles. Then there is a description of villages and the town of Trutnov, which are mentioned in documents, and a description of their medieval monuments. Finally I have described several small castles, which are not mentioned in written documents, but which according to archaeological evidences come from this time. In the next part I have tried to describe the size of region of Trutnov at those times. I conclude that the nearby towns Dvůr (Králové) and Hostinné were established by the king and that they were not part of region of Trutnov, which was owned by the lords of Švábenic. The most important part depicts the history of the Švábenic realm in the Trutnov region. The beginning of their ownership of region date back to the last fifty years of 13th century. The first written reference to it is from 1260. At the end of this decade or in the beginning of the next one arouse todays disposition of the Trutnov town and its castle. The chronicle of Neplach mentions that Přemysl Otakar II. the king gave the region to the Germans in 1277. Contemporary literature does not understands it as the beginning of German colonization, which began earlier, but as an origin of the establishment of the feudal system. I have come to the opinion that the date is probable, but that the establishment was not made possible by the king, because the region was in the ownership of the lords of Švábenic. They could have done it, or the king established a feudal system in territory of his town Dvůr possibly Hostinné too. The last problem of history of the region is the end of the ownership of the lords of Švábenic. It dates back to 1301. I have come to the opinion that the lords lost the Trutnov town between 1297-1300, but it is possible that they still owned some property in the region in the first decade of 14th century.
