The diploma thesis „Analytical and comparative study of
libraries at selected private and public universities“ focuses
on identification of areas in which the observed libraries
differ most. The first part of the work gives a general
overview of the current situation in Czech university
libraries. These chapters cover the role of university
libraries and the legislature that governs their activities.
The second, most important part, presents the results of the
research study.  Data used in the study, come from four
libraries belonging to both of the above mentioned library
types. The study used questionnaires and focused on the
following areas: services, book collections, employee
professional expertise, electronic information sources and
library equipment.
