The Motives of Love in Short Story Works of Isaac Bashevis Singer

Anotace: Práce „Motivy lásky v povídkové tvorbě Isaaca Bashevise Singera“ si vytyčuje dva hlavní cíle. V první části se snaží prokázat účelnost Singerova formálního postupu, jeho práce s kompozicí a strukturou, jež má za následek posílení role obsahových faktorů v jeho povídkové tvorbě. Následujícím a stěžejním cílem je poukázat na relevanci motivů lásky v díle a jejich významu pro sugestivnost obsahu. V úvodních kapitolách je čtenáři představen spisovatel I. B. Singer, jeho osobnost, život, tvorba, témata a určující vlivy na jeho dílo. Dále jsou přiblíženy jeho formální umělecké postupy, literární styl a jazyk. Práce současně představuje psychologicko-uměleckou teorii ruského psychologa Lva Semjonoviče Vygotského. Čtenář je prostřednictvím analýzy Singerovy povídky Tajbele a její démon konfrontován s Buninovou povídkou Lehký dech (Light Breath), což umožňuje nahlédnout do kompozičních postupů I. B. Singera. V další části se práce věnuje definici pojmu láska a kategorizaci lásky dle Ericha Fromma s její následnou identifikací ve vybraných povídkách. Následně je v obsahu práce zacíleno na jednotlivé literární prostředky ovlivňující působivost obsahu a na jejich funkci v povídkové tvorbě I. B. Singera. Závěrem práce přináší rozhodující popisy charakteristik funkcí jednotlivých motivů lásky a důkaz jejich relevance pro sugestivnost Singerova povídkového díla. …víceméně

Abstract: The work “The Motives of Love in Short Story Works of Isaac Bashevis Singer” sets two main objectives. The first part of the work tries to demonstrate the purposefulness of the Singer´s formal method, his work with the composition and structure, resulting in the strengthening of the content factors in his short story works. Subsequent and central objective is to point to the relevance of the leitmotifs of love in the work and its importance for the suggestiveness of the content. The opening chapters introduce the readers with the writer I. B. Singer, his character, life, themes and determining influences over his work. Furthermore, his formal artistic methods, literary style and language are explained. At the same time, the work presents the psychological-artistic theory of the Russian psychologist Lev Semyonovich Vygotsky. Through the analysis of the Singer´s short story Teibele and her Demon the reader is confronted with the Bunin´s short story Light Breath, which enables us to take a look into the composition methods of I. B. Singer. In the following part, the work is involved in the defining of the term love and the categorization of the love per Erich Fromm with its subsequent identification in the selected short stories. Subsequently, the content of the work aims at the individual literary methods influencing the expressiveness of the content and their functions in the short story output of I. B. Singer. Finally, the work presents the decisive descriptions of the characteristics of the functions of the individual leitmotivs of the love and the evidence of their relevancy for the suggestiveness of the Singer´s short story work. …víceméně
