Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to discuss and analyze topical problems of housing policy. Students are introduced to housing and housing policy in general. Particular attention is paid to the specifics of theoretical and practical issues of housing in their social and historical context.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, students are expected to:
- understand the importance of housing policy and explain its trends
- explain instruments of housing policy
- discuss the basic principles of the housing market and its implications on housing policy
- be acquainted with the specificity of various housing sectors - owner, rental, cooperative
- be able to evaluate instruments of the housing policy and the possibilities of their application in practise

Teaching methods
The course takes form of a lectures and seminars which take place within half a semester (half-semester course). In the lectures, students are acquainted with the problems of housing in order to obtain an overview of housing and housing policy, and acquire the basic principles of its practical. During the seminars various issues are discussed within interaction with the teacher. This leads students to understand all the specifics and help them to write a final essay on a selected topic.
Assessment methods
The course is concluded with an oral exam.
Students are eligible to take the oral exam provided that they fulfill given conditions: they pass written test (a test is regarded as successful if at least 60% of answers are correct), hand in and present the final essay.

Important information! If students commit a prohibited act, such as using various forbidden tools, cribbing, taking out any part of the exam or any other cheating, the teacher is allowed to interrupt an exam and to grade a student with F, FF or FFF according to the seriousness of the offence. The mentioned procedure relates to all the activities that are included in the final evaluation of the course (seminar work, essays, tests etc.).

If the student enrols in the course during his/her exchange scholarship he/she must contact the course guarantor and agree with her on the conditions of the course.
