Course objectives
Quantitative Methods in Public Sector (DSKM) The course aims to introduce students to the fundamentals of study of statistical sets and their indicators. Students are introduced to the problems of description and basic characteristics of sample statistical sets, principals of the theory of probability and random quantities. The crucial part of the course is the passage on quantitative description of some processes and dependences. The lectures concentrate on an introduction to the study of regressive and correlative calculus with emphasis placed on linear regression. In addition to this, to study time-arranged indicators an introduction to the study of time series and comparative indexes is presented. All parts are illustrated by examples using concrete statistical indicators of the economic development in the Czech Republic. Examination: written and oral.
