Course objectives
Insurance Industry (POJI) The course intends to introduce one of the most interesting segments of financial market - i.e. the insurance industry. It is the basic course of insurance subjects. Relations between insurance and risk will be explained, as well as the concepts such as insurance, insuring, insurance relations, technical reserves, reinsurance and its forms. Appropriate attention will be paid to the concepts of insurance theory, relations between law and insurance, between duty and right to insure. Students will be acquainted with the classification of insurance, the most important insurance sectors, selected insurance types and insurance types for natural persons and entrepreneurs. Attention will also be paid to life assurance and non-life insurance in accordance with EU guidelines and the new Act No. 363/1999 on Insurance Industry of the Collection of Laws. The course will also survey the structure of insurance industry and commercial insurance companies in the Czech Republic and other economies. The principal regulations in force in the insurance industry in the Czech Republic, EU and other economies will be explained. Credit requirements: a presented independent paper, active participation in seminars. Examination: the exam is combined - it consists of an obligatory written part and an optional oral part.
