Course objectives
At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- identify contemporary issues of public finance
- find out different aspects leading to the solution, including undertanding main similarities and diffencies
- explain and defend of the chosen way
Syllabus
  • The course covers current public finance topics. They are scheduled for certain weeks of the semester (approximately):
  • 2 weeks: Reforms of Public Budgets
  • 2 weeks: Distributional aspects of public finance reforms
  • 2 weeks: Public Expenditure Management, State Treasury
  • 2 weeks: Public finance sustainability, Public Debt Management
  • 2 weeks: Contemporary Issues of Regional and Municipal Budgets
  • 2 weeks: Contemporary Issues of Regional and Municipal Budgets Topics (chosen for the discussion) are connected to "problems issues" from State final exam (public economics or public finance).

Teaching methods
Class discussion of contemporary issues of public finance. Students' presentations and debate about contemporary public finance issues constitutes the main teaching method. With the help of the teacher, students are supposed to elaborate given task, which is revised by the techer.
Assessment methods
The course is concluded with awarding a credit. To obtain the credit, students have to fulfill given conditions:
1. elaborate and present of the given problems,
2. discuss other celleagues' topics.
Any copying, recording or leaking tests, use of unauthorized tools, aids and communication devices, or other disruptions of objectivity of exams (credit tests) will be considered non-compliance with the conditions for course completion as well as a severe violation of the study rules. Consequently, the teacher will finish the exam (credit test) by awarding grade "F" in the Information System, and the Dean will initiate disciplinary proceedings that may result in study termination. The mentioned procedure relates to all the activities that are included in the final evaluation of the course (seminar work, essays, tests etc.).
