Practical seminar supporting the theoretical lecture PA103 Object-oriented Methods for Design of Information Systems. We expect knowledge of object-oriented programming, core knowledge of software engineering, knowledge of UML models.

Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to:
design high-quality UML models in CASE system;
apply analysis and design patterns in software life cycle;
evaluate qualitative aspects of software architectures by means of specialized analytical tools;

  • Introduction to appointed CASE system, project assignment.
  • Use-case driven requirements.
  • Architecture.
  • Models with analysis patterns.
  • Models with design patterns.
  • Deployment of component systems.
  • Introduction to the system for qualitative analysis of component applications.
  • Reliability evaluation of component models.
  • Performance evaluation of component models.
  • Projects assessment, presentation of results.

Teaching methods
Theory, practical group projects, class discussion.
Assessment methods
Regular attendance, active participation on group project (modeling of concrete IS in UML) finished by the inspection of required UML diagrams and documentation.
