Course objectives
The course is focused on the acquisition of the particular terminology in guiding typical of the spoken English language first and foremost. The course intends to extend students vocabulary and to develop communicative skills in the field of guiding in tourism. It involves guided excursions in Brno (1 outing) and its surrounding areas(3 more trips to Veveří casstle and Brno dam, Mohyla míru and Slavkov, Macocha and Moravian karst) in English. It also involves a short theoretical introduction into making a tour itinerary and tour guide commentaries, which is later trained in short students´ presentations during the outings.The course consists of 4 outings which take place on selected weekend days in March, April and May and 1 theoretical 90-minute lesson(the meeting point and sharp time of this lesson will be specified at the biginning of the term).To get the credits students must participate in all 4 excursions and give their short presenations. The particular presentation topics will be agreed in advance on the first, theoretical lesson.The terms for spring 2012 are:11.3,18.3.,1.5.(a public holiday),12.5.

Credit requirements: At the end of the course you get 2 credits. The requirements you have to follow to get the credits are: The course involves a theoretical 90-minute lesson and 4 guided excursions. You have to participate in 4 outings and the 90-minute lesson.You must also give a short presentation in English in 1 trip.
